Here’s a quick way to give them an estimate of the payload capacity. Remember "Payload" is the combined, maximum allowable weight of cargo and passengers that the truck is designed to carry. The addition of any optional equipment or passengers adds to the vehicle weight and subtracts from the allowable payload.
